has unveiled two new slim Blu-ray players from its AQUOS series – the
BD-HP21U and the BD-HP50U. The next generation in home entertainment
technology, Blu-ray players are built to give a full digital 1080p
video output when combined with AQUOS HDTV LCD TVs claims Sharp.

BD-HP21U's comes with a quick start feature that allows the users to
view there video from the Blu-ray discs within 10 seconds without the
touch of a button. It also sports a support for HDMI cable connection
via the AQUOS LINK feature. This feature also allows the users to
control the AQUOS TV screen and the player with the same remote.

Delivering full HD 1080p video and analog and digital outputs, it also
has support for JPEG images which can be viewed in a slideshow from
the recorded CD-RW/R. It is also capable of DVD up-conversion. The
audio output of the BD-HP21U is equally amazing as the video output,
powered by Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio via the HDMI
connections. The player is also capable of decoding the Dolby Digital
Plus for optimum surround sound. The price of the BD-HP21U is
suggested to be $349.99.

The Sharp BD-HP50U is another powerful AQUOS Blu-ray player with full
digital 1080p video output, 1.3 digital output. It delivers 1080p/24Hz
high-definition, high-quality picture. Capable of delivering high
fidelity audio, decoding Bitstream output Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master
Audio and Dolby Digital Plus, the BD-HP50U also has the Quick Start
feature. It is compatible with the standard DVDs and has support for
formats including BD-ROM/RE/R, DVD Video, DVD-RW/R, DVD+RW/R, and
Audio CDs and also support for JPEG images. It also comes with a
RS-232C port. The BD-HP50U willl be available at $449.99 MSRP.

Earlier this week, Pioneer has launched its first Blu-ray player to
support the BD-Live feature for access to internet and network-based
content and it looks to be an exceptional marvel of engineering.

On the other hand, films are already coming on Blu ray. Fox has done a
wonderful job bringing The Day After Tomorrow to Blu-ray. So how would
